Geography

Lying about 39 miles South of Lake Erie, Akron sits on the Great Lakes region. It borders the Cuyahoga Falls to the north and Barberton to the southwest. According to the 2010 U.S Bureau Census, Akron constituted a metropolitan population of 703,203. The city alone has a population of 199,110 with a density of 3,210 per square mile. With an area of about 62.4 square miles, the land covers an area of 62.03 square miles with water bodies constituting of 0.34 square miles.

Climate

The climate of Akron is often humid. Winters are always cold and dry with showers of rain, snow, and hail. January is the coldest month of the year, with snowing and icing reaching 26°F with and 47.5 inches of snow. Hottest months are often August, with the maximum recorded in 1918 reaching 104°F.
