Opened in 1953, Akron Zoo is an excellent outdoor destination for families. It comprises of more than 1000 animals of over 100 species. The zoo covers an area of about 50 acres providing a full area to explore animals from different parts of the world. Akron Zoo is the most visited attraction site in Summit County, receiving about half a million visitors annually. Find more information here.

Themed Attractions 

The zoo entails eight themed attractions areas with unique designs resembling varying wild habits. For instance, the Komodo Kingdom includes an indoor exhibition of Komodo dragons and rain forest species. The largest themed show is the Legends of the Wild comprising of snakes, bats, leopards, and flamingos. Conservation Efforts

Akron Zoo is among the member of multiple conservation projects both locally and internationally. The conservations range from restoration to preservation and reintroduction of endangered species. They include; Venezuelan Waterfowl Foundation, Butterfly Conservation Initiatives, and Audubon Christmas Bird Census.
